Veterans Day 2010

I searched high and low for a poem to post for Veterans Day. I even
thought of writing my inter-most feelings on the subject....
How my heart is raw when I hear our National Anthem and watch our Flag flying high. How I get choked up when I see a convoy of Military vehicles knowing that they are training for whatever lies ahead. How my heart does a flip flop when I see a soldier in uniform at Wal-Mart and all I can think of is how proud I am of what our Son is doing and what all of our Service Men and Women are sacrificing for their Country and their families. How when I saw the Korean War Memorial in Washington DC and had tears trying to imagine what my Dad must have went through but could never really talk about. We have had many in our family who have served their time through peace time and at war. To them and ALL Veterans I want to say Thank you for your service. I did find a couple poems that I liked but would like to share this one. May everyone have a great day and realize where our freedoms came from.

A Soldier

There is discipline in A Soldier you can see it when he walks,
There is honor in A Soldier you hear it when he talks.

There is courage in A Soldier you can see it in his eyes,
There is loyalty in A Soldier that he will not compromise.

There is something in A Soldier that makes him stand apart,
There is strength in A Soldier that beats from his heart.

A Soldier isn't a title any man can be hired to do,
A Soldier is the soul of that man buried deep inside of you.

A Soldier's job isn't finished after an 8 hour day or a 40 hour week,
A Soldier is always A Soldier even while he sleeps.

A Soldier serves his country first and his life is left behind,
A Soldier has to sacrifice what comes first in a civilian's mind.

If you are civilian -I am saying this to you.....
next time you see A Soldier remember what they do.

A Soldier is the reason our land is 'Home of the free',
A Soldier is the one that is brave protecting you and me.

If you are A Soldier -I am saying this to you.....
Thank God for EVERY SOLDIER Thank God for what YOU do!

Rainy days! Happy Wednesday

Hello all.... It has been about 9 months since I posted and alot has happened. I guess that is the good thing to waiting to post for a while... you have something to write about. Well, JW came home in April for his Birthday... Big 21 this year, wow..I don't know where the time has gone. Then in June, the 22cnd to be exact, some idiot ran into our house and thankfully no one was hurt. He was a drunk driver and led to the remodel of our front porch. I really liked it just the way it was.

We found out in August that JW is going to be deploying in December, and I am not at all happy about that but it is what he wanted and has enlisted to do so there isnt much this Mom can do about it. We always raise our kids to keep them safe and this is so far out of our comfort zone it isnt even funny. Just keeping the faith that all will be ok and his 6 months over there will go fast and be very uneventful. He came home for Devon's Birthday which was really nice. It will not be the same with him not being home for Thanksgiving and Christmas though. But we have been very fortunate to have him home the last couple of years for Christmas. So I can't complain too much I guess. There are Mom's out there who havent seen their Airman for a year or more and I must say my hat is off to you because I don't know if I could do it or not.

For Devon's Birthday, big "14" this year, we went to Kings Island for the day! That was fun. They have the Fear Fest for Halloween. We had loads of fun.

Now we are planning to go to OK to have Thanksgiving with JW since he wont be home again before he deploys. Not sure which days we are going to be able to go yet but plans are in the works.

That is about all that has been happening. We don't lead very exciting lives around here. Hope anyone who reads this is doing well!

Hugs to all!
Love,
Kim

OK, I am really slacking!!!

Here we are in the throes of winter!!  YUCK!!  all I wanted was for it to snow on Christmas and NOPE, no snow.  Here it is January 14th and boy are we in for some CHILLY weather tomorrow.  Not not chilly, downright freezing.  Weather man says it is supposed to be a high of 5 tomorrow and a low of -something or other.  With wind chills at 20 below.  I didnt ask to live in Alaska, just for a little snow.  Didnt think that was too much to ask.  I have been making lots of new friends on power surge who I adore, along with my long time family of AF Mom's and Dads.  Don't know what I would do without all of you guys.  We are planning our yearly adventure to Gatlinburg and I am so excited.  I already have some cabins picked out for us to choose from.  We always go over spring break because it falls on our anniversary.  The first time we went was 7 years ago and I have to tell ya, it is Heaven on Earth for me in every sense!  I just love it there, something about the fresh, crisp mountain air that really grounds me.  Backing up a bit,  JW came in for Thanksgiving and suprised me!  It seems other family members knew but not dear old mom!  It was great.  Then he came home again for Christmas and it was wonderful.  He spent more time with us than out running around and it was GREAT!  I can only hope he realizes how much it meant for him to be home with us!  That was the best Christmas present I could have asked for.

I am not at the salon so much anymore..... We had to get rid of the tanning beds so there really isnt a reason for me to hang around down there so much.  I truly am enjoying being a domesticated house-wife for a change though but am starting to get a little bored.  Have been thinking about going into Medical Transcription for some extra income as I love to type!  Have also thought about Floral Design.  I know you are thinking these two things couldnt be farther apart, I guess I am just trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up!

I got a new Camera for Christmas and as soon as I figure out how to get the pictures from there to here, I'll post some:)  Hope everyone has a great day and may God Bless all of you!

Toodles,

Kim

HMMMM! "40"

Well, it's been well over a month since I have posted.  Lot's going on around here and havent seemed to have been able to find the time.  Sorry excuse I know.  Today is a landmark for me.  I turned "40" today.  WOW!  I dont even know what else to say.  I am not really liking it one little bit.  I have heard others say that 30 bothered them.  30 was a breeze for me.  Then I had heard some say 40 and then of course you hear others on up from there.  I have heard life starts at 40 and I am being optimistic about that.  I am just thankful that I have my family who means more to me than anything and we are all safe and healthy.   Other than a hot flash here and there!!  LOL  I know several will get a giggle or a sigh out of that one.  JW, My Airman was the first to send me a greeting this morning at 3:00 for my Birthday.  That was the greatest present anyone could have given me.  Here lately I have been missing him alot more than usual.  I would really just love to have one of his big bear hugs and I would be completely satisfied.  He and Devon, sent me flowers today.  I got BLACK BALLOONS from my mother and she is in BIG trouble.  I also received a Willow Angel and a cross-stitch friends saying framed that is gorgeous.  Another friend gave me a different Willow Angel and a balloon (not black! I might add).  And I have had various phone calls all with their own rendition of the Happy Birthday Song and I have loved them all.  I am so fortunate to have such wonderful friends and family.  Thank you to my AF Mom's Betty and Corinne for the Birthday wishes on Myspace!  You don't know how much they lifted my spirits!

Well,.... I am going to get off of here for now.  I hope Lolly is feeling much better today.  Everyone have a great evening!

Love to All!

Happy Wednesday!

Hello everyone in the blog world. It has been an exciting week so far! Indiana primaries, JW got a new pet fish....and I cant wait to see what the rest of the week brings! No really, not alot going on here. It is a dreary morning here in Southern Indiana, it is cloudy and rainy. Kind of makes ya just want to crawl back in bed:) Like I need an excuse to do that! Anyways, here is a pic of the new addition to the family, Jerry Waynes fish! He is a blue Beta and his name is Skyy! JW is adjusting well to Tinker life. He has several friends there with him from Keesler which makes it nice. He has also found a long lost Uncle that lives near Tinker. His name is Leo and he was in our wedding and was also there when JW was born. He was stationed at Grissom AFB with J when he was in the Air Force and quickly became one of the family. He is retired AF and still works on the base at Tinker. Jerry Wayne did not remember him since we moved when he was 18 months old. It is so fun to be reconnected to Leo after all these years.
I really need to learn the in's and out's of this whole blogging thing so I can make it more original. maybe someone could help me, wink wink:) I would like to add some music, other blogger links, More pictures.....etc.
Well, I guess I am going to go for now. I will post again soon!

Just Me

Hello Everyone. Tonjia politely reminded me that I needed to make another post on my blog:) I just need a little nudge from time to time. Today was pretty uneventful although yesterday not the case. Jerry Wayne got his perm dorm room yesterday so he was moving after he got off work. Talked to him numerous times and then we texted back and forth until after midnight last night. Talk about pooped!! Anyhow, JW and I had various conversations on how I thought he should decorate his dorm room! LOL! I just cant stop being Mom I guess. No really....he has a really nice kitchen for it being a dorm. I got off the phone with him and lo and behold, here came all the thoughts of what I think he needs! I did not even think of this before he left because his Dad didnt have a kitchen while at his first duty station or any other dorm for that matter. Microwaves were not invented yet!!! LOL Jerry Wayne couldnt believe all this as I was telling him last night. So anyways..... I am thinking, curtains, dishes, silverware, toaster, coffee pot, dish towels, paper towel holder and on and on and on! My brain would not shut off! So, in the midst of a hot flash at 12:30 last night, (at least that's what I think it was, although Dr.s would say I am too young, HA) I get up and start shopping on Targets website. Well, I found all kinds of stuff. Hoping the Target right off base at Tinker carries everything so I dont have to ship it. I know, curtains are not something for JW since he is a guy, I am just not used to all this bachelor living, especially when it's our son!!!! The other stuff, he will definitely use though.

Light bulb just went off! Next time I can't sleep, I just need to get on here and let it fly!

I will try to post some more pictures tomorrow. They are on the other computer.

Happy Evening to everyone:) Toodles!!
